Stop Water Before It Reaches the Foundation

Gutter and roof drainage system installation and repair throughout Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, The Bronx, Staten Island and Long Island

When rain hits your roof in Long Island, it needs a clear path away from your home. Without a properly functioning gutter system, water spills over edges, pools around your foundation, and seeps into walls or basements. You might notice streaks of dirt down your siding, soil erosion near the foundation, or water stains in your basement after a heavy storm.

Gemz Construction installs and repairs gutter systems that collect and redirect water away from your roof and foundation. We install seamless gutters that integrate directly with your existing roofing system and are sized to handle the volume of water your roof sheds during typical New York weather. Repairs address sagging sections, leaking joints, and disconnected downspouts that allow water to bypass the drainage path.

How drainage systems protect more than your roof

A gutter installation starts with measuring your roofline and calculating the number of downspouts needed to move water away from vulnerable areas. We fabricate seamless sections on site to reduce the number of joints where leaks typically form. Each section is secured to the fascia with hidden hangers that support the weight of water during heavy rain.

After installation, water no longer spills over the edge of your roof or splashes against the foundation. You will see dry soil along the base of your home instead of muddy trenches. Your basement stays dry during storms because water is carried at least six feet away from the house through extension spouts.

We also inspect and clean existing systems during repair visits, removing leaves and debris that block water flow. If sections have pulled away from the roofline or developed rust holes, we replace those components and reattach the system securely. Repairs restore the original drainage capacity without requiring a full replacement unless the system has deteriorated beyond functional repair.

Questions homeowners ask before scheduling drainage work

Homeowners in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, The Bronx, Staten Island and Long Island often want to know how long gutter work takes, what materials we use, and how the system will hold up during winter. The answers depend on your roofline and the condition of your fascia, but most questions come down to how the system will perform once it is in place.

What size gutters do I need for my roof?
Most homes need five-inch gutters, but larger roofs or steep pitches may require six-inch gutters to handle the volume of runoff. We calculate the size based on your roof area and pitch.
How do seamless gutters differ from sectional ones?
Seamless gutters are fabricated in continuous lengths with fewer joints, which reduces the chance of leaks forming over time. Sectional gutters have seams every ten feet that can separate as the system ages.
What happens if my fascia is rotted?
We replace damaged fascia boards before installing new gutters so the system has a solid surface to attach to. Without a stable fascia, gutters will sag or pull away within a few months.
How often should gutters be cleaned?
You should clean gutters at least twice a year, typically in late spring and late fall. Homes surrounded by trees may need cleaning three or four times a year to prevent clogs.
Can you add gutter guards during installation?
Yes, we install gutter guards that reduce debris buildup while still allowing water to flow into the system. Guards do not eliminate cleaning entirely but extend the time between maintenance visits.
